Sketching a motivational landscape

Abstract Studies of motivation in bilingual education settings often address questions differences between learners programmes and those mainstream education. Problematic this respect is our increasing awareness the inherent these two learner groups, as have chosen or been selected for a route ( Mearns et al., 2017 ). The study presented here therefore does not seek to compare non-bilingual programmes, but rather explore nature language learning within context secondary (BSE) Netherlands. Using purpose-designed tool reflecting L2 Motivational Self System Dörnyei, 2009 ), investigated trends across genders, academic tracks year-groups nearly 2000 learners. Findings suggest that, although all common, motivations groups should be overlooked.
